updated more regular moving forward from now on. The last 2 months I
have been busy training, traveling and racing on the road and around the
Since my last update I have headed back over here to California and raced the Supercross world cup in Chula Vista and a weekends racing up in Fresno. Just before I flew over from New Zealand my back stiffened up again which meant a lot of management in training and doing the right things that wouldn't cause it to blow up again. I then flew over and started to prepare for the London Olympic replica track down in Chula Vista. First day of practise came around and made it though the track and ticked everything off on my list. Sometimes it wasn't pretty out there with a couple of near diggers/crashes but im pretty confident to say, so did over half of the pros out there in the first practise session. Day 2 practise came around with time trials and I still didn't feel 100% comfortable out there. My time trial run was probably the worst 1st straight of my life but somehow managed to pull through to qualify 44th.
Race day came around and I woke up feeling on top of my game, practise went well and felt like the engines were firing and ready to go. Moto one I had a good gate and came out strong to then case the first jump then drop back mid pack and get swallowed up. I got thrown out the back, 6th place. Moto 2, once again came out strong and was running 3rd through to the rhythm 3rd straight where some little
mistakes cost me 2 places bumping me back down to 5th. I knew moving into the
last moto that I had to have a top 2 finish to have any chance of qualifying through. All locked and loaded in the gate and I left to early hitting the gate and being spat out the back instantly.... race day over!! sat down with the staff afterwards and broke a few things down post racing and pulled a lot of weaknesses out which needs to be addressed moving forward.
A couple of days after the race, Trent jones and myself headed over to Murrieta where I am based till the end of the year staying and training with my buddy Barry. I had scheduled a load off week of training with doing a few sprints and no gym at all to try and freshen the body up for the next 2-3month phase of goodness.
I then headed up to Fresno that weekend with my buddy's Anthony and Lauren to get ready for another round of ABA racing. Practise rolled around and the track was super easy. Fast, downhill, Some very very tight corners and a very short first straight. Come race day, most of our predictions were right. Trying to get 8 guys that are within 1 foot of each other pushing and shoving going into a first turn, your bound to only get half of a race come out which was definitely the case!! Grenades and bombs going off everywhere in the first and second turn. I luckily made it through motos keeping it rubber side down until the semi final where I high sided someone's back wheel eating it into tarmac. Race day over and felt like I had been hit by a train! weekend over.
So im back on my grind down in Murrieta carrying a few little niggles of injury's but survived my fist hit out in the gym in a couple of weeks. Was my first time squatting again since may this year and it definitely felt like it! Some mega gains to make in the gym again which im pumped to start chasing again. Felt good to be squatting again (even if it was lightweight) and getting the gears turning over again moving forward. I have the Disney cup coming up in a few weeks over in Florida which I am certainly looking forward to laying down some decent horses and chasing some decent results!
