NAME: Matt Cameron
DOB: 21 February WEIGHT: 90kg HEIGHT: 181cm FROM: New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand YEARS RACING: 11 CAREER RACE NUMBER: #949 ABOUT ME: I have been racing BMX for 10 years and for New Zealand for 6. I started out racing bmx from the ripe old age of 16 where i was hooked into the sport the instant my tyres touched the dirt. I raced for 7 years from there to captain New Zealand test teams to race Australia in Trans Tasman events within New Zealand and over in Australia every year I trialled. I also represented New Zealand at World Championships and also becoming a carded athlete in the New Zealand High Performance BMX program. From there I became a fulltime athlete with the support and help of many supporters. |
I then took a break from my sport to pursue other life goals but returned to bmx in the 2010/2011 season. Since returning I regained selection for the NZ High Performance Team in October 2011. I am now pushing my sights on gaining an Olympic spot for the forthcoming games in Rio de Janeiro where i plan to win Gold! I am constantly improving and pushing my way into the right position for this to happen.
